Selling at Keys
Our experienced team of valuers are always pleased to offer advice on the saleability of any item, and its value.

Should you decide to enter items into one of our auctions, they will be inspected by one of our valuation team. They will advise on the type of sale into which they should be entered, and the reserve (minimum price) which should be accepted for them. If you have larger items which you wish to sell, we can arrange to visit your home to inspect them and, for a small extra charge, collect and deliver them to the Salerooms.

Any agreed reserves will be clearly indicated on our presale entry forms/appraisal forms and on our pre sale notifications.
Please note: Any shown reserves will be subject to an auctioneers discretion of 10% on the first sale. If unsold, a 20% reduction to the original reserve will be made on the second sale. If unsold after two sales, any third or subsequent sale is then without reserve. Please inform us promptly if you do not wish for any lot to be carried for a third sale. This should be in writing.

Once entries for an auction are closed, the process of cataloguing begins. Our team of experienced cataloguers prepare descriptions of the items and estimates of the prices they are likely to realise, and photographs may be taken of particularly interesting lots. If you have items which have been entered into an Antique, Picture, Books or Collectors auction (and the consignment value is estimated at over £100) you will receive a copy of the catalogue and a notification form stating the item description, its lot number, and any reserve which has been placed upon it. Printed catalogues are not supplied for the General Sale, but you may view the sale catalogue online. Catalogues for the fine art sales are also available online. Please Note: You will not receive a catalogue for consignments under £100 or for Re-entry sales, but you will receive a sales notification.

Catalogues are sent out to in advance of our fine art auctions to subscribers on our international mailing list, as well as being published on our own website and other international collectors and antiques portal websites. All of our fine art auctions are advertised both locally and nationally. We are confident that we provide maximum exposure for your items prior to the sale.

After the auction, providing your items have sold, we will forward you a cheque (less our charges) after 14 days (whenever possible). Please note we reserve the right to hold payment on larger value items for which we have not received payment ourselves. Items which do not sell will, unless we are otherwise instructed, be re-entered in a suitable sale. Please note that items which remain unsold for two sales will be entered a third time without reserve unless collected by the vendor.
