A 'hanging bobbin', carved in bone with pierced decoration 'JOSEPH CASTLE HUNG 1860', with beaded spangle

Joseph Castle was hung at Bedford Gaol 31st March 1860, for the murder of his wife, Jane Castle and it took the jury only 15 minutes to convict Castle. The same night it is said that Jane Castle's family threw a party and gave each guest a commerative bobbin.

If the hammer price is reached in these fees, we reserve the right to cancel the sale and any paid monies will be forwarded to the original vendor and/or absorbed in fees
