Rare Minton Plaque with Pate sur Pate Decoration by Desire Leroy painted with an oval panel of fruit within gilt border surrounded by pate sur pate decoration of birds in branches and flowers, probably by Desire Leroy, on a turquoise ground date code for 1882 ( impressed upper case mark and letter O) 16cms x 11.4cms. Provenance; Christies New York sale of the Pompey Collection, 2002, Aslin and Atterbury, Minton 1798-1910 although not signed by Leroy it is typical of his work, a plate with similar decoration signed by Leroy and exhibited at the Paris exibition of 1878 was sold by Keys (lot 55) in December 2020. Leroy worked at the Minton factory for a relatively short period of time before moving to the Derby factory.
