First World War Death Memorial plaque named to Pte 45098 Ciphas Plews Shingles, 37th labour Battalion Royal Fusiliers. Killed 11th October 1916 Commemmorated at Thiepval Memorial Pier and Face 8 C 9 A and 16 A. France

Born 1886 at Stoke Holy Cross, Norfolk. Lived and enlisted Norwich. Son of William and Margaret A. Shingles of 43 Swansea Road, Norwich, and husband of Laura Helen Shingles of 80 Avenue Road, Norwich. Had been employed as a waiter. His brother, Enos, served with the Royal Engineers.
