A team of leading Norfolk antiques experts will be on hand in the cloisters at Norwich Cathedral on Saturday 28th May, giving people the chance to get their family heirlooms valued during an Antiques Roadshow style event which will be raising money for Cathedral funds.
A team from Keys Auctioneers and Valuers in Aylsham, described by leading industry publication Antiques Trade Gazette as a ‘Top Tier’ UK auction house, are lending their expertise for the event, which is being organised by The Friends of Norwich Cathedral.
The experts from Keys will be on hand from 10am until 3pm to assess all sorts of antiques, fine art and collectables. The antiques specialists will be offering appraisals and valuations for ceramics, glassware, oriental items, furniture, paintings, books & ephemera, jewellery, silver, clocks and watches.
Entry to the event costs £6, which includes an appraisal of up to two items. Further items can be assessed at a cost of £3 each (up to a maximum of five items in total). With the experts giving their time for free, all of the proceeds will go towards the upkeep of Norwich Cathedral, which costs £5,000 a day to maintain and run.
“This is a great chance to quiz some of the region’s foremost experts about your family heirlooms,” said Tim Blyth of Keys, one of those who will be providing their expertise on the day. “People will be able to discover more about their items, as well as receiving an assessment of what they might make at auction.
“Whether you are considering selling your items, or are simply curious about what they are, this is the opportunity to receive an expert appraisal, while helping us to raise money for a great cause as well.”
Anyone seeking a valuation can simply turn up between 10am and 3pm on the day to have their items assessed and valued. Items for assessment should be portable; for larger items, the experts suggest bringing one or more photos.
Parking in The Close will be restricted to Blue Badge holders only. Brownes Meadow car park in Recorder Road will be available for free parking for people attending the event.
