Elijah Walton RA (British,1832-1880), inscribed on backboard "Winter near Grindelwald, Swiss - Elijah Walton 1873". Additional inscription relates to Sir George W. Agnew, 2nd Bt (1852-1941), partner at Thomas Agnew & Sons. The work appears to be from George's private collection. The inscription reads:"The first drawing I ever bought. I bought it whilst still an undergraduateat Cambridge in 1878. E. Walton was a friend of my tutor and member of the alpine club. George W. Agnew", watercolour and pencil heightened in white,17x24cm, framed and glazed.
